A small island of Dodecanese, Leros is located between Patmos and Kalymnos. In fact, holidays in Leros can be easily combined with trips to Patmos, Kalymnos and Lipsi. According to mythology, Leros island was where goddess Artemis would go for hunting, as it had a rich population in deer. The long history of Leros is depicted in the many sights around the island, such as the Medieval Castle and the interesting museums. Lovely seaside villages and cozy beaches are found on the island, with Agia Marina, Alinda and Lakki being the most tourist places. As the sea around Leros is rich in reefs, small islets and old shipwrecks, scuba diving is gradually developing on the island over the last years. Many local festivals and panigiria are also organized in summer months, attracting many visitors.

Places to visit:

Agia Marina is a popular tourist resort on the northern side of the island. The village is almost attached to Platanos and Pandeli, the other two close villages.

Lakki is the main port of the island and one of the largest ports in Dodecanese. The visitors is impressed by the elegant architecture of the village, the wide streets and the good urban planning.

Alinda is a nice seaside village with much tourist accommodation and nightlife. It gets pretty busy in summer.

Pandeli is a small settlement almost attached to Platanos, the capital of Leros. It distinguishes for its Castle and the picturesque path with the windmills that leads to the castle.

Platanos is the capital of Leros. This traditional village streches around two small bays and it is attached to the villages of Agia Marina and Pandeli.
